What's, what's the recovery rate for patients who have the surgery?

So the typical hospital stay in an elective operation is about five, well I would say four to seven days. Sometimes folks are getting out of here in four days and then it takes six weeks for your chest to heal. It's, it's like a bone in a cast so I tell patients walk, go up and down stairs, be active but don't put any stress on your chest while the bone is healing that takes time and then it usually takes another month or so before you really start to get your energy back.

And so I'll often tell folks to kind of forgive your body for that period of time because, you know, eight or nine weeks you might have some day where you feel great. You're running around doing a whole bunch of things and then the next day you just feel wiped out and that can be discouraging but it shouldn't be because it's normal and it's there's like this upward sinusoidal curve where you on good days and a couple bad ones and by two or three months 10-12 weeks almost everybody's kind of feeling right back to having their strength and everything.

After a dissection it's different kind of depends on how sick you were when you came in like if you were having an organ that wasn't getting blood flow or you were in really kind of dire straits when you rolled in it can take longer but I got plenty of people that were right on death's doorstep that are living really full lives still.
