One of the things that you have to be aware of and deal with in Maran syndrome is the differences in your bone. The bone is very thin in certain critical areas like the pedicles where we put screws and the lamina where we put hooks. You can see here how thin these areas are where the red arrows are. Normally they're about two or three times that thick but in Marfan persons typically they're very thin and harder to put a screw in and keep it there. The vertebrae are also scalloped by the dural ectasia meaning there's less bone to fix to.
