It’s typically done in young teenagers, 14, 15, or 16 because that's when the curve usually develops and becomes significant. It’s also true that the younger you are, the faster you heal, the less pain you're going to have, and the less risks and complications you're going to face. Most importantly, it interferes less with the important milestones of your life, such as graduating college, getting a job and keeping it, and starting to raise a family. So, in many ways, it's good to get it taken care of while you're young and can deal with all those things as easily as possible.
