So Elena McFarlane, another investigator at Johns Hopkins, who is in my lab at the time did a beautiful job of assessing mouse models of Loeys-Dietz syndrome. These mice show very dramatic aortic root aneurysms as we see in Loeys-Dietz syndrome, also showed the signature for high TGF beta activity and for the first time allowed us to directly test the hypothesis that medications such as losartan would also be protective in this condition.

If you treat them with losartan the aortic growth rate is completely normalized and that's very different from the effect of treating with the beta blockers such as propranolol or atenolol where we really didn't see any evidence of a protective effect, so starting to give us greater confidence that our initial recommendation that medications such as losartan be considered for Loeys-Dietz syndrome truly had experimental evidence.
