How do you monitor a valve which has been replaced?
There are several ways to know if the valve is working well and the easiest way is with an echocardiogram which is a simple ultrasound test that can be done just by putting, putting a little microphone over the chest and it gives us a good picture of how well the valve is working. We actually do one of those echocardiograms during the surgery to be sure that everything's working well at the end.
