Can you talk a little bit about whether there's a connection between a CSF leak and cases of scoliosis?

CSF leaks usually don't happen by themselves without some kind of a provocation or an invasive intervention. So surgery can certainly lead to a CSF leak. It isn't something that we typically see in most scoliosis patients, but putting in hooks or doing anything around the dura in Marfan patients - that dura is very weak and it's more prone to just start leaking even if you don't do anything drastic to it. If you just kind of brush by it with a hook or brush by it with any kind of a surgical instrument, it will sometimes start leaking. Not every Marfan patient has severe dural ectasia, but some do. Dural ectasia is often a result of scoliosis surgery.

I would say in our study we had about 20% of people who had a CSF leak, but to see it happening without surgery is only about a rare thing of about probably a few percent of Marfan patients will have a spontaneous CSF leak.
