Obviously you can't just have normal. Normal is normally a three vessel arch branching pattern.

Bovine arch, which is commonly seen in our bicuspid patients. This is where the left carotid and innominate form off of a common trunk.

You can have an isolated vertebral so instead of the vertebral coming off the subclavian it can actually come from the arch so if you're doing an arch replacement you need to know that this isn't coming off of the normal location

And obviously a more extreme version is where the right subclavian is aberrant. Instead of it coming off of the innominate up here it's coming directly from the arch and then will run around either the esophagus. Sometimes it'll run in between the esophagus and trachea and those can obviously cause problems with swelling and breathing.

Since this is a very well informed community we also classify arches on the type of arch, a zone one, a type one arch, a type two arch, or type three that's really in relation to the location of the innominate. If the innominate is in a horizontal plane with the other two vessels it's a it's a type one. If it's within this range it's a type two. If it's a very what we call cervical arch more of a steeple, then we classified as a type 3 arch.
