The other image I want to share here is how does a dissection look on CT. So this is basically what we call a snake view of the aorta, whole of the aorta. On the top is the root as you come down you see the arch and this is a thoracic descending aorta and this is the abdominal aorta.

This dissection here that is repaired, you can see, by Bentall surgery. This portion ascending aorta is repaired but there is a residual dissection, that dark area here in the middle is the flap from the dissection and that separates what we call the true lumen which is small, which has less contrast you can see, and on the right side, which has a lot of contrast, that's the false lumen so that's how a dissection looks on CT
