Another system that is frequently affected in Marfan syndrome is the ocular or the eye.

Myopia or nearsightedness is a common feature. I like this particular slide because most people have trouble seeing the forest through the trees, instead, in myopia, it's trouble seeing the trees through the forest but it's kind of really like this, this image.

Ectopia lentis is another distinct feature of Marfan syndrome and you can see here that this, this opaque area right here is the lens of the eye. Typically, this would be right in this area here but this is slid off and dislocated out into the sort of superior aspect of the eye and this dislocation of the lens can lead to eye problems and visual problems.

It is actually the ligaments that hold this particular lens in place. They are also hyper extendable and also loose just like other ligaments elsewhere in the body but they're also present in the eye and help keep the lens in place and in, in affected individuals, therefore, can lead to displacement or dislocation of the lens.

Another finding that can occur are cataracts or clouding of the lens which can also lead to problems with vision.

These are all pretty significant eye findings that can lead to visual disturbances and sometimes loss of vision.
