So once we've explained what genetic testing is, who should have the test done, the next important step in the discussion is to explain the benefits and limitations to that testing and this is essentially just a conversation about the pros and cons of the specific genetic test that was recommended.

So, an example of some pros would include that the genetic testing allows for a more tailored medical care. For my experience in our clinic, the majority of the time our patients and their parents decide to go ahead with testing. I find that people tend to want to know as much information as possible, especially when it comes to conditions that have a chance of affecting the heart. Next slide.
