Yes, a DEXA scan is a way to measure your bone density in different parts or in all parts of your body. So if you want to know you're having osteoporosis or osteopenia, that's a good way to really be sure. A plane x-ray doesn't tell it as well. It gives you an impression but it doesn't answer for sure yes or no whether you have it.

So a DEXA scan is a simple test. It just takes a few minutes and it's widely available in different places. So children can have it as well as adults but they have to be able to be still for, you know, the duration of the test.
