So kind of a late breaking also research discovery that we wanted to bring forward is that there was a paper earlier this year that described a possible new Loeys-Dietz gene, so this is not clinically available yet, so, you know, many of you probably had what's called an aneurysm panel for genetic testing where they look for DNA variants in about 30 to 40 genes associated with Loeys-Dietz and Marfan and aortopathy, so it's not on those panels yet but this paper back in March describes kind of a Loeys-Dietz phenotype in a gene called PMEPA1.

And so you can see on the family histories, the pedigrees on the right on the individuals that are affected are in red and so you can see it does show an autosomal dominant inheritance pattern both seen in like singleton cases but also in generational families.

There wasn't a full clinical kind of feature listed for all these individuals but they showed a marfanoid habitus with a long face, tall thin stature, striae or stretch marks, flat feet, aortic aneurysm but this gene interacts with the SMADs and so really is a regulator of the transforming growth factor beta pathway, which is we know the pathway for Loeys-Dietz syndrome.
