This person has had a retinal detachment a few years ago but she's still having, dealing with floaters and flashers. Her specialist said that it would go away after surgery but they are still a daily occurrence. Is it common with Marfan patients or is that indicative of something else?

Not necessarily common for the Marfan patients. Retinal detachment, depending upon how quickly the detachment was fixed and how good the retina is functioning back right away, you can have the recurrence of floaters and flashing lights but I mention this when you have the true acute retina hole that causes retinal detachment those three signs: curtain, flashing lights and floaters. They're just not just a few floaters here there, a few flashing lights here. There it's a lot, so that's something that is different than your typical on the daily occurrence, the daily basis you have a few floaters here there.

Often time it can go away and when I tell my patient you have floaters they're not really going away per se. You learn how to deal with that your brain it get, you know, gets adapted to it, so I don't want to put a number in my mouth saying like three months will go away but rule of thumb is that it will go away if your retina is in, in the good position.
